I need opinions

Hello all... My sailfin tang has been a real bastard with my harlequin tusk I recently got. He really beat him up. Well, I finally caught him last night using the good old bottle trick. Right now, he is in a 5 gallon bucket in complete darkness with an airstone and heater. My plan was to keep him out long enough for him to forget his role in my tank and then re-introduce him so he would think hes now at the bottom of the rankings. I do not know how long is long enough to make him forget. My buddy has a tank that is empty and has been running for a while now. I was going to put him in that tank for a couple days and then re-introduce him. Has anyone done this? Has anyone taken a fish out of their tank and then re-introduce and be successful with stopping bullying? I just need some opinions on how long and whats best.

How large is the tank? Sailfins get BIG, and if the tank isn't long/large enough he may decide the entire thing belongs to him, and beat up everything else. If you want to try re-homing him for a bit, I'd give it a few weeks. Sump him, put him in your friend's tank, your quarantine tank, heck a rubbermaid bin with a heater and filter will work... after a few weeks, try reintroducing him. It may not work at all, it may work temporarily, or you may be successful, no telling unfortunately until you try.

Have you tried re-aranging your rocks? That has work for me in the past. I did have to remove a Sohal tang, did it for 2 weeks and that worked

I know they get big. I cant wait for all my fish to get big:spin1:. I have a 220 which should be more than enough for him. But ok, thanks. I will try keeping him out for a couple of weeks. I was thinking a couple of days but I'd rather the weeks so he really thinks he is jus out of that tank for good. Hopefully that will also help the harlequin get better and less stressed from constantly being picked on. It stopped for a while but just picked up again last night and it was so much more violent than before.

Re: rearranging the rocks. Yes I had to take off of work to do a complete makeover of the rocks. This was when I first got the harlequin and he was getting beat up bad. I did not want to see him die so the rearranging was top priority. My boss was understanding. Haha. But yea that didnt even work that well He went right back to beating him up.
