I have a large worm in my tank that is eating snails and clams. I have tried the pop bottle thing in a few different ways. I just recently bought a aquamedic pest trap and I think it is too large to fit in it. I think the worm is of this species Lysaretidae. I know its bad. I tried to add about an 18" piece of vinyl tubing to the trp and it just crawled in and crawled out. I thinkk a large part of the worm remains in the in way to the trap so it can just back out. Or it might even be remaining in the rock. I only saw the butt end of it and it was about 1/4" thick and 1/2" round. I only saw about 1" of the end. I was trying to remove it alive, but I am running out of options. I think I am going to add about 8 hook to the vinyl tubing so when the worm backs out it will hook itself. What do you guys think?? Do you think if it gets ripped in half will the other half survive?? Also it's weird because after the worm eats the only thing that is left is a large pile of mucus. I also see the mucus trail in the sand and rocks to where it has retreated to. It does not seem to have a rock it likes to hide in. He seems to travel a lot. Thanks for any help or advice.
