I need to stop getting these big rocks!

I went to the LFS the other day. I went in just to get a single polyp frag of black sun coral. (I collect all of the colors I can find)

I started looking around and found a cool zoa frag and asked "how much" and he said "10 bucks". I saw the colony next to it and he said he would let it go for $40. I ended up getting the colony.

Then I was looking around and I spotted this guy...

He said he could frag off any mushroom I want so I asked how much for the big one, and he said "$20... but I could probably let the whole thing go for $30" so alas I left with the whole rock (I need to stop doing this)

I have never seen rics this dark. (they almost look black sometimes) did I do good?
I would also like to know if the bleached mushroom at the top of the second pic is doomed or could it recover?

holy crap! you got a deal!
now I'm curious how he would have gotten a single mushroom off for me.
I have seen some huge rocks there with cool mushrooms (blue striped ones, not rics)but I don't want a soccer ball sized colony, I wonder if I could get a single one from one of those.

I love the purple and green.... Its really pretty! I don't really think about acquisitions in terms of money.... I think about them in terms of are you happy with it? I'd be pretty happy with that purchase though.

As for the white one... its kinda hard to see it.... Its so white! Shrooms are a tough group, so if its not melting away, it might have a chance of making it. Its white because its been denied light for a while.... so make sure you feed it, and acclimate it to the light its receiving now. (Move it to a shady area, and slowly re introduce it to the light).

those are yumas, bleached ones can recover, but once they start dissolving its tough to bring them back.

I have the same ones, and I bought a huge rock covered in them as well. In a year you will be giving them away...they spread fast and never stop.

haha they definitely grow like a weed, i used to have them in my old tank, needless to say they werent brought over to the new one lol i wanted atleast some different types of corals
