I really need some QT advice....

So I obtained this beautiful Powder Blue Tang, put it QT, and it was doing really well. The fish looked perfect, great behavior, eating well. There were a couple questionable spots on the pectoral fins, possible ich, but no signs otherwise and no signs on another fish that I have in there which I have seen with ich before, so I know the other fish doesn't have ich. I also read a forum on RC about someone who thought a tang looked good and then added the tang after QTing for a few weeks to display and ended up giving the display crypto. So I figured, knowing this PB tang was a crypto magnet, to treat with cupramine. I brought the levels of Cu up slowely and things look ok, a little labored breathing, but now the tang is just acting a bit nuts, rapid swimming, crazy rapid breathing. Outlook not so good in the QT tank, I don't think it will make it another 24 hrs from what I saw this morning. The Cu levels have been up for 2 days or so, the fish total QT time around 2 weeks. What do I do? Do I let it play out in the QT? Do I water change the QT, or carbon and bring down the Cu levels? Do I try to save the fish by putting it in the DT? Any advice is appreciated.

I'd drop the levels back down (not too rapidly). Once it is doing well again try to bring the levels up very slowly and see how the fish responds.
