I See Red Slime!!!! DIE!!

I'm starting to see small amounts of red slime algea or bacteria form on the top of the sand bed in my fuge, and starting to form on the chaeto bush! I put a couple astrea snails in the fuge to see if they help does anyone else know what i can do to eliminate it before it becomes problematic? Its not all over yet but i can see it could be a problem if i dont do something.

Cyano tends to thrive in low flow area when enough nutrients are present. You can try siphoning out the cyano daily this will help remove nutrients and may give your cheato an upper hand. Also add more flow via a powerhead if possible.

if it gets bad you can use the product "red slime remover" works great

Are there any inverts or other critters that eat that stuff? I'd rather put a invert in there than more additives... so far its still not out of control but i've been stirring it up a bit...

If you do use Red-slime remover, be sure to turn off your skimmer.
Mine went crazy and left me a nice puddle on the ground.

and shut off any carbon you are using if any.

IMO red slime remover is the best doesn't hurt anything
IME it turns it brown and the fish and crabs eat it up

Stirring it up doesnt help, your still leaving the bound nutrients in the tank. At the end of each day, or more often if necessary siphon it out. No need to use chemicals. Cyano is easy to combat with manual removal and management of nutrients.

Theres a product called Phos-X or something you can either put in with your carbon, or replace your carbon with, obviously removes phosphate.

Chemi-clean is another product, but is only a temporary solution. You need to find the cause and eliminate it. Adding a phosban reactor or more water flow may help as well. For now, keep physically removing it everyday until you can find the cause or it will only spread......and even after a solution is found, it will not go away until it is physically removed.

hopefully a reduction in my nitrates will halt its spread, once i remove my cansiter filter ill know if its coming from it
