I think I have AEFW..

Im not sure, but I think I have AEFW. Im pretty certain I have SOME type of flat worm.

I was feeding my frogspawn today, I NEVER feed my frogspawn, but I was feeding it arcti-pods. I turned my powerheads off, and these brownish "discolorations" that Ive always noticed on my frogspawn were coming off in the frogspawns slime it was releasing. I IMMEDIATELY took the frogspawn out of my DT, and siphoned all the surrounding water and sand. When I put it in the bucket, there were hundreds of these things.

If They are AEFW, will they sit on my frogspawn and not my SPS? Ive never noticed anything on my SPS. I dont have ANY sps growth, but there only dead spots are where a coral fell on the frogspawn.

Here are the best pics I can get of them. They are flat, brown and gelatenous. They actually change their shape a lot. I cant get any close ups:

What do they look like?

They might be the harmless ones, but it still looks like you have a lot of them. Be careful if you use flatworm exit, get as many dead ones out, (with a siphon or something), as you can so they don't polute the tank.

I would say that you have the rusty red flatworms that are a pretty common problem. They are harmless except for the fact that they multiply out of control and literally smother everything with their sheen numbers.

Get a piece of airline tubing and start a siphon. You'll be able to slurp up every one that you can see pretty easily. Once you've removed every visible one...use flatworm exit to kill the ones you can't see and continue to siphon out any dead ones you see.

If you don't siphon out first, they can die is such large numbers that they can poison the tank when the die.

I had those things and it very strange because one week they were there and the next they were gone. good luck

I have some in my sump, but none in my DT. I do have a 6-line wrasse. But I have never actually seen him eat them, but IMO he has to be because I think I would see them in the DT if he wasn't.
