I think my mantis is sick!

dragonette

Yes, its LIVE rock.
Hey guys.

my mantis is acting funny

I did a water change yesterday, and added a filter sock full of carbon to the back chamber of the aquapod.

he did seem to kind of stay in his cave yesterday more than normal.
Today he was very slow in response to food I tried to feed him. He is coming out of his burrow and trying to swim around but when he flutters his little fins under his belly he doesnt really go too far. He even went a little sideways like he was going to croak right then and there.. I freaked!

I pulled the carbon out.
The only changes have been the h20 change and carbon.
He ate a goby yesterday too. (twin spot)

Any suggestions? He is in a healthy reef tank.

He is currently hanging out like 1" from the water surface on top of the big mountain of rocks. He doesnt get scared when I put my fingers by him

What to do!?!?

Jess

ps- he sucessfully molted two weeks ago

Any chemicals been enar the tank lately? Especially airborne chemicals or maybe floor wax or maybe some construction on the road? If so that could be contributing. The best you can do: run carbon w/ polyfilter, keep water quality high, shorten the light cycle or make it complete lights out for a few days. The dark should help with the stress your mantis is feeling.

no everything has been the same except the stuff I mentioned.

she seems to be more normal with the lights out now. I guess Ill keep an eye on her and see what happens... not really much I can do about this I think.

Ill post if anything significant happens

Thank you
Jess
