I need some help. I am worried about this coral and would love some help if anyone knows how to help this coral. I have had this coral almost 2 years and it has been doing fine. Within the last few weeks I have noticed hard needle like structures protruding from the edges of its orange fleshy membrane. I hate to admit this.....but I don't even know what this guy is called or what its needs are. If anyone has any insight to what kind of coral this is and how to care for it.......I would really appreciate any help you could give.

My light is VHO, tested my water parameters last night and everything is on the money. I have not been adding any trace elements or phytoplankton to the tank lately. Could this be the problem?

Thanks for any help you can give

This picture was taken about a year ago when it was healthy......I will take a picture and post what it looks like now.

Here is the picture of what it looks like now. Sorry that it is not a better pic......but you can see the white little needle things sticking out of it.

The coral is a Brain coral (LPS), it requires moderate lighting and medium flow. It will also take prepared meaty foods.
It looks like the tissue is receding and it is dying.
Those spines you see is its skeleton. Make sure nothing is bothering it, and try feeding it once the feeder tentacles come out.
