I read a link where someone was waking up at wee hours and looking at the tank w/ a flash light. I decided to do so and omg. I've got bristle worms first of, I bought a 6 line for this reason a long long time ago and i quit seeing them, guess they are nocturnal cause they are every where with the lights of, any suggestions on them? Also i have little clear bugs all over my rock, i figured they were good bugs but they started crawling out of a dead zoad polyp. Are they killing them, what are these clear little bugs? They are about 2-3 mm long. And last, I have never bought a snail. I've never seen snails in my tank. Last night after viewing with the flash light i spotted 2 of them. They are very small, < 1/2 inch. They were in a bad spot to take a pic so i tried to pic one out and it was solid and not coming off the rock. Seems like a small pearly looking shell is forming on them. Can any one help me with my night time adventure and id or inform me upon these creatures?

Ah, the moment of discovery... The snails you are describing (without a pic who knows) sound like Stomatella which are actually slugs. Check out http://www.melevsreef.com/id/snails.html for a good photo ID resource.

Bristle worms are creepy, but actually great for you reef. Each night they will come out and eat any left over food or anything that has died.

As far as the clear bugs, they are probably just pods. Melev's reef also has a great bug ID page at: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/pods.html

Happy Reefing!

Stomatella are a type of snail. They just have small shells. Agreed on the bristleworms being EXTREMELY beneficial.
