ice cap 660 dont work...help

ok guys im sorry for the dumb post,its working fine,i had it hooked for 4 bulbs and only had 3 bulbs to test it out and it kept going on and off evertime i tried to fire it up,making the ballest smell some but then i wired it for 3 bulbs and wala it worked,my question now is will all thaat off and on i did make it mess up now somwhow,i have it in my shop hooked up and im gonna check it time to time but well my stupidity sckew my awesome ballest up that rhett gave me a good deal on?

glad you got it to work. you should be ok. they are good ballasts, but you have to wire them properly to get them to fire. I always burned 4 bulbs with mine.

yea,no one told me bout the wiring being so detailed i figured that i could hook it up for 4 bulbs and just use 3,anyway it seems to be fine,i left it on for a while in my shop and it was ok,i notice the ballest does get hot and i dont have the heat sink plate for it

can you keep your hand on it? I had my ballast located low on the back side of my stand. it would be warm, but not hot enough to burn or even hurt when my 2yo grabbed it. if it is really hot, then you need to get some air circulating around it. that will make a HUGE difference.
