First some history. When I first got into the hobby I failed to QT any fish, I like most ended up with ich. I pulled all fish from display and left display fallow for 10 weeks. I have since put all new fish in Qt and have had a happy and healthy tank. Well a few weeks ago I agreed to babysit my best friends fish while he finds a new house and is able to complete the move. He broke down his 125g and we put his Blue Hippo in my Display and set up a 34g nano for his prized coral, anemones, clowns, and purple Basslet. Now this guy knew his stuff and had been in the hobby 10+ years and I agreed he could go straight into display(we also had no tank large enough to safely QT him due to his size). I am not blaming him or his fish because things do happen and it could have been something else, but I noticed last night my Purple Tang and his Blue Hippo have white specs covering their bodies. No other fish have any signs that I can see but it is still early.
Now my first question is what do I do with my Zebra moray during QT? I have read that they cannot get ich, it's extremely rare for them to get ich, and they get ich. Can he tolerate Hypo or should I do copper?
Fish list as follows
Blue Hippo
Naso Tang
Purple Tang
Kole Tang
Engineer goby
Diamond goby
Melanurus wrasse
Yellow Clown goby
Zebra Moray
2 Blue Chromis.
I recently got ahold of a 55 gallon tank for nothing and have thought of using it or I have also played with the idea of putting them in a kiddie pool or large koi pond. Any creative success stories at Qt fish that need room to swim?
