Ich help!

We've found the only thing that works is ozone. However, we don't leave the ozone on when there is no ich present because it seems to really take everything out of the water (good and bad).

I don't know of any chemicals that can be safely added to a reef tank for ich....only in quarantine tanks.

I had Ich one time in my tank and I just let it run it's course. The only thing I tried was garlic mixed with the fish food. The fish got better but I can't say that garlic was the reason.

What unit do you use and what do check the level with?

Much along the lines of what JonK said, I had an outbreak in one of my 125's last year, and it basically just went away without a single loss. Ich is ever-present. What tends to change is environmental stress. That can also include new fish being introduced. You may want to take a closer look at water parameters, and feeding a better mix of foods for a time. Maybe foods treated with garlic elixir may work.

I do not know as water is to numbers.
Mix of food as to what do you have as a list and how much?

Which garlic do you use which works better?
There are so many.

Parameters in terms of did anyhting occur to cause a swing in Alk or PH? Salinity swing? Temp. swings? New tank mates? Any "turf wars" between inhabitants? Changed salt mixes? are you overdue for a waterchange? Any can cause stress to species prone to ich.

If you've been feeding flakes, try frozen foods. Not too many fish will refuse frozen mysis. If it's a vegetarian afflicted, try hanging a sheet of nori or other dried seaweed sheets in a clip. If it's a bigger fish, try Piscene Energetics mysis, it's much bigger than Hikari.

I've never needed to try garlic elixirs, but I would imagine any would suffice. Maybe someone with specific experience with a particular brand can chime in. You simply apply a few drops to some thawed frozen food, or even flakes, and let it sit for a few miinutes. You can try the same with Selcon, though sparingly so you don't foul water quality.

fishtk,
We have an Ozotech unit. Right now the thing hasn't been plugged in for many months due to the fact that we don't need it right now for fish health. It will make your water crystal clear, which can be a plus, but it can also be seen as a negative. If the water is crystal clear, what kind of nutrients are left in it for the corals? Because of this we've really only used it as a treatment for ich.
We really don't "check the levels" of the ozone. We set the dial on the unit at a low setting and just let it do its job. The most important part is using adequate carbon to remove any ozone before it makes it back to your tank. It's the only thing we've found, other than letting it run its course, that seemed to do any good.
