Ich infection speed?

I purchased an occ clown the day before yesterday. Today I noticed ich like spots around the gills, and one eye. I took him back to the lfs and they believe it was ich as well. They started treating him on the spot and put him in a hospital tank and offered a replacement right away. I kindly declined at that moment as I decided to do a little research and get some opinions. A little back story on my tank. It has been fish free for over 1 year. I do my own water changes with ro/di water from home. I know I should have qt the fish but I didn't have one. Lesson learned. The fish was in my tank for less then 36 hours. My question is, how fast would the ich spread in the tank? How long should I wait before introducing another fish? I have sps and lps so I do not want to use treatments or hypo salinity. Thank you for your time.

Also when I picked up the fish it didn't have any signs of ich that were obvious. Today they were very small specs. Nothing at the point that it was very obviously infected.

You need to wait 10-12 weeks to be sure there is no active ich infection in your tank. You don't have to worry about your corals.
