What if one fish has ich but the others dont show the signs/symptoms(white dots) If you rid the ill fish of the ich (treat them and was successful) Do the other fish have ich or will get ich?

Worse case scenrio: the ill fish dies :( and the others never showed symptoms...will they be fine???? or will the ich transfer to the other "hosts"????

Or, if one fish has it ich....do THEY ALL HAVE IT????

Ich can be very fish specific. Some fish are much more suseptible than other do to stress and immune system. Its not unusual for one or two fish to show spot but not other because other fish in the tank can better resist the parasite. I wouldnt worry about the ones not showing spots.

Whenever one fish has ick, you need to assume that all fish in the tank have ick. Eventhough the other fish might not show symptoms of ick, they could still have it. In fact, most of the time, when one fish gets ick, other fish in the tank have caught it too.

If you study the life cycle of ich, you will find that if one fish has it, then your tank has it even if no other fish show signs. They may never have any problem with it until they get stressed. Personally I would quaranteen all the fish, keeping the sick one in a tank by itself and treating it with copper. Keep them out of the DT until several life cycles of the ich have gone by, assuring that they are all dead. (if in doubt, wait longer) Act fast because the Ich will. Do a search and learn more about treating with copper as it can be dangerous if not done properly. HTH

cleaner shrimp are mearly a bandaid, and no they will not rid the water or ich. Only a tank that is without a host (fish) for a month and a half or better will be ich free.
