Does anyone have any close-up photos of Ich that they can share?

We have recently started a 40 gallon tank and appear to be near the end of our cycle. Our tank is filled with live sand and aquacultured live rock. Our cucumber in the tank appears to had litlle things crawling around on him, they are also on the tank glass. We assumed these were copepods but I am now concered since they are on the cucumber.

Please share your ideas. Thank you.

No picture but from the description it is quite possibly copepods. No clue what kind of parasites cucumbers can suffer from or if they would even make it as far as to your tank, few things do. A cleaner shrimp or cleaner wrasse hardly serve a purpose for what "normal" ailments a fish would get in our tanks.

They sound like copepods, Ich doesnt move around like little bugs. they just pop up i hacve copepods in my tank every were!

Phew, thank you. Hearing you both say that ich doesn't move it such a relief! Must be the copepods then :) Wonder why they are hanging around the cuc so much.

We're finishing our cycle still so we don't have any fish yet. We did buy some damsels last night and have them in QT... will they munch on the copepods when they are introduced to our display?

We have a peppermint shrimp as a cleaner but he is prety shy. We see him very little during the day and during the night we'll creep out a bit more but still stays in one area.

I'd do some research the damsels before you add them; they are nasty little fish (pretty, though), that will torment many of their tankmates. Ich can't been seen without magnification. the white spots on fish aren't the actual parasite. For pics, just Google 'marine ich', include Google images. Most fish never appear as badly infested as the pics, though. Just for info; cleaners do nothing to prevent/cure ich.
