i have a 65gal with the following fish/inverts
royal gramma
ocellaris clown
fairy wrasse
firefish
scarllet skunk cleaner shrimp

the fairy wrasse and the ocellaris appear to definitly have ich, i have removed them and put them in a qt tank, the other two fish dont look like they have any symptoms yet
my question is should i move the other two into the qt tank as well? and how about the shrimp? im assuming the shrimp can pick up the parasite as well but i dont want to stress him out by moving him back and forth if its not necessary.

i just moved the fish out its almost 11pm so i cant run out to a fish store to pick up any ich treatment, anyone have any suggestions while i cruise the forums lookin for remedies? i was plannin on a freshwater dip and grabbin some meds tomorro

**edit ok ive been looking at the forums and i guess a freshwater dip and meds is not the best thing to do.

i think im going to try the alternative method of hypo treatment. These fish are not into advanced stages yet so im thinking they can handle the stress of being moved between tanks like that. Im a little confused however, if anyone has done this let me know

i set up two tanks: one with normal tank conditions, the next with lower salinity. I place the fish in the lower salinity for 3 hours while i dry out/add new water to the previous tank. And then switch the fish back? So if i am correct, i move the fish from normal salinity, to low salinity for three hours, back to normal salinity, and repeate this process every four days? right or wrong?

**edit i may give seacure copper treatment a shot too just because im catching the parasite in the early stages and the fish appear to be in ok condition, i havnt used this before anyone have suggestions or opinions

1, get all fish into q/t
2, shrimp dont get ich leave it in display.
3, leave the main tank fishless for 8 weeks.
4, do hypo on the fish. this involves 6 weeks at a salinity of 14ppt use a calibrated refracometer for this. buffer the ph to 8.3 ish check this daily check the sg twice a day.
5 to get the salinity down do a series of water changes with fresh water to bring it down slowly over 2 days.
6, when returning to hig salinity reurn it very slowly 2 points per day.
7, leave the fish in q/t for 4 weeks after this to make sure ich does not return.
8, qt all new fish for 3 weeks at least.
9, read the links below carefully.
