I recently introduced an anemone into my tank. The prior owner disclosed that the tank had an ich infestation 6weeks prior.
Against better judgement (and because Im a moron) I introduced the anemone into the tank with two healthy clowns. Unfortunately the fish both died within a few days. (I have a thread in the anemone section for more detail)...
Because the death was pretty quick (and there were a few conflicting symptoms), I am starting to think it may have been velvet (or brook, or a severe anemone sting possibly, but less likely). When reading about them, none of the symptoms match perfectly to either disease.
Here's my question... What is a typical life cycle for velvet and/or brook? My tank has no fish in it right now, and won't for the next eight weeks. That should take care of the ich, but what about velvet or brook?
Is there anything else that's recommended, other than a fallow tank and properly QT'd fish and inverts (everything) moving forward?
Thanks for the insight.
