ich? what's this about

I had originally posted this in the reef discussion, this is a more appropriate place.

Well I left my tank friday before the weekend in perfect health, no problems at all, sps growing crazy under my xm 10ks, fish swimming insanely eating like crazy.

I came home last night to find both of my tangs with 5-6 white marks on each side, looked exactly like Ich, this morning it was even worse.

The tangs wouldn't eat this morning so I turned off the lights and gave the tank a dose of Vita Chem, I usually soak their food in it but I just decided to give the tank a dose.

I just got home and my tangs are swimming around insanely again, i put some pellets in the tank and they ate everything.

All the white spots are gone. What they hell is going on here, Vita Chem does not cure ich. There were definitely raised white marks on their bodies 12 hours ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ich naturally falls of the fish .. usually takes around 4 days but average is between 3-7 days. The ich that falls off the fish usually ends up in the substrate where it takes about a week before it hatches more ich.
