So, I'm in the process of rebooting my tank after too many ups and downs. About 3 weeks ago I drained and cleaned the entire setup with bleach, let it dry, then refilled with fresh pukani that I etched with vinegar, etc. Now that the cycle is wrapping up I am ready to repopulate, so I put my two remaining fish, a pair of clowns, in. Last weekend I picked up a whitespotted filefish and a flame angel, and they both went into the tank vacated by the clowns for QT.
I didn't fully think about what I was doing, and dropped them in the tank that was previously holding the clowns, which were healthy. There are about 4 1lb pieces of rock from the old tank in there, which I wasn't going to reuse, since it was pretty ugly before it became algae and aiptasia ridden.
The part that I didn't think about was there are 2 RBTAs about the size of a quarter that I'd really like to keep. Unfortunately the flame angel started showing signs of ich yesterday, first time I've seen in on any of my fish. Tomorrow I'm going to begin the TTM on both the flame and filefish, since they've been in the same QT.
I would really like to save the BTAs, so I'm asking for advice on getting them out of the infected tank. They're so small I can't really get them off the rock for fear of killing them. Also, now that the main tank is back up I don't have adequate light for them to survive 10 wks in the QT, and I don't want to put ich into my 5 gal coral tank.
I tried aiming a PH at them but they just crawl around on the same rocks. If I can find a way to get them off the rocks I was planning on doing a separate TTM with them before putting them into my coral tank while the main system stabilizes to the point that they can move into their new home.
