Well hard to tell if its crypt or not. I assume you are talking about the white specs on the fins....If I was a betting man I would say your fish has crypt. How screwed are you well it depends....Time will tell.

ive had trouble with ich myself im no expert but that is what ich looks like but it could be other things like RBU1 said but with no QT you are screwed take it from me YOU DO NOT want to put anything in your display tank i used coppersafe in mine which is what i found to work the best for ich and it killed everything but the fish (live rock, coral, snails, crabs, all inverts.) but it did make the ich go away if no QT keep i feed well and do water changes and like the other post said only time will tell best bet is to go buy a 10 gal and use coppersafe

I hate to ask this, but I paid $5 for this fish and a whole lot more then that for my (apparently) unaffected pair of firefish.... is the "easy fix" the way to go here? :-(

Here is a website for your very problem ( http://www.microbelift.com/products/home-aquarium/reef-and-marine/herbtana-reef/ ). According to this research you do not have to remove your fish from the DT if you have corals and such. This product is safe for all marine life and can be used for your problem. Hope this helps with your problem and good luck.

Dont waste your time or money.....No Reef safe treatments work.

If you dont want to take the time to remove all your fish to treat them and leave your tank fallow for 8-10 weeks, then don't do anything and hope for the best. In my opinion adding that reef safe crap only stresses the fish out more causing more problems.

+1 on what RBU1 said - no controlled studies that I know of have ever been done on any "reef safe" treatment. When they work, it is just coincidental - Cryptocaryon *sometimes* goes away on its own in reef aquariums with good protein skimming.

The picture isn't really clear, but it looks like the spots are only on the fish's caudal fin? Is that correct? If so, it may not be ick - maybe broken/bruised fin rays from it being captured (although you usually only see two or three of those at a time). One trick - take a photo of the fish today and compare the location of the spots - if they are unchanging over two or three day's time, it is unlikely to be ick. If the spots come and go, and change in numbers, then it is probably ick.
