ich

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting this out of a reef tank? I made the mistake of not quarantining properly when I first got started and now its in my DT. All my fish are healthy and not showing the ich, but I know its lurking there. I recently added a purple tang and he is now showing signs Of it. Do I just keep feeding everyone and hope it goes back into pseudo remission, or with the introduction of this tang does that mean there can be an explosion in the ich population that ends with my fish dying... I understand the life cycle, I am just looking for the best advice for what to do in my situation from more experienced reefers.

Getting Ich out? There are a plethora of threads about this. Just do a search. Going fallow is the most common (and least invasive) method.

10 weeks of the tank running fallow(fishless.) and cupramine or TTM for any fish that are going back in once the 10 weeks are up. as sologarth said theres tons of threads/stickies with more detailed info so you can decide what works best for you. No easy way to get it out once its in there unfortunately, its a bit of a hassle to quarantine everything that goes into a reef tank but its even more of a hassle to remove and treat fish from an established tank once they're infected
