No idea why...but suddenly my tank has busted out in ICH !!! My Royal Gramma and Foxface have it ! Do I have to pull the fish out or the corals or what? Heard about this nightmare...never been through it !!!

What to do ???

It is best to QT the fish and then treat them. I use copper but not sure if its good for the FoxFace. You would have to ask your LFS. The corals will be fine. Ich can live in the tank for about 30-35 days without a host. If you have any shrimp; they can stay in the tank.

Fish the fish out which means fish traps or tearing down your tank to grab the fishes. I failed at doing that and in the end I lost all my fishes to ich.

get all the fish out of the display.

treat for ich use hyposalinity

or copper better with hypo.

leave the display fishless for 6-8 weeks.

royal grammas are succeptable to ich but foxface realy are resistant on the whole it must be quite a bad case.

did you add anything to the tank recently anything at all.

I had an Indonesian Algae eater (looks similiar to a Yellow Tang in coloration but not shape) eating well and then it just up and keeled over on me. I was gone when it happend and wasn't able to retrieve it from the tank...so I'm suspecting an ammonia spike occurred due to the loss !

I'm going to do a 10% water change tonight and start feeding garlic with the food.....and praying !

your fish may well recover. trouble is you will have ich and the next time anything goes wrong you may have problems.

try to get or borrow a uv and feed selcon, zoecon as well as garlic.

and water changes will help as well.

If you have an ammonia issue then do a large water change ... I see no logic in small small water changes when you have water quality issues.

Have you considered setting up a QT and teating all of your fish for ich?
