Ick Came, Left And Came Back Even More!!!

I purchased a kole tang about 2 weeks ago. I did not quarantine. After a while, I noticed that there was a little white spot on its head. 2 days later it was gone. 10 days past and I just noticed white spots all over his nose, his fin and his head.

I have been soaking his food in garlic guard and mixing it with Seachem Metronidazole.

I do have a quarantine set-up but I refuse to rip the whole tank apart to get the kole. I don't want to dose the tank because of my corals, and I don't really have the $$$ to buy expensive treatments.

My kole tang seems very energetic and eats his food like a pig. On the other hand my yellow tang is doing great. I have done a few big water changes to try and suck any eggs layed from parasites.

Will other fish start to get this ich? Will it's immune system be able to totally get rid of it?

Kind of contradictory statments and ideals here aren't they? Looks like you are reaping the benefits of not QTing aren't you?

forget the metronidazole, it is ineffective against Ich. Don't bother with water changes. Yes, your yellow tang will eventually get ich as well. you will HAVE TO set up a quarantine tank and take out both tangs and treat with hyposalinity for minimum 4 weeks. Many people also use copper (on quarantine tank only) but hypo in itself works great. Don't bother with Rid-Ich or equivalent products, they don't work. And finally, welcome to the glorious world of Ich.

That's what ick does... Their immune system might be able to handle it but you really don't know. It will probably go away in a couple days and you might think you beat it... but then if it comes back (and it probably will) it will come back 10 times as bad and it may be too late.

Even if fish aren't showing signs of ick, chances are they are all carriers now and you will need to treat all the fish in hyposalinity or copper and leave the main tank fishless for the duration of the treatment

Yup it sucks
