Is this crab safe ? I actually seen him on top of some of my corals. If not what should I do with him ?

Looks like an emerald crab to me, if it is they are generally pretty safe.

I hope your right. I think he took a bite out of that coral he was next to though. You can kind of see it on the top of the coral. Also what's the name of that coral ? Anybody know ? I bought the set up used and it came with some different type of corals to start me up.

Hard to tell from the pic but i would also say an emerald crab. Most likely it was eating algae on or next to the coral.

And that looks to be a candy cane coral, but unhappy

Yea looks like an emerald crab as others have said. Be sure to keep him fed if you keep him. I think I didn't feed him enough or should have supplemented more algae for him, he went rouge and took out some tank mates so he got the boot.

Emerald crab to me too. If it has blunt tips on its claws its pretty safe. That asternia star though.......

If the tank is decently fed and has algae, more than likely he is either cleaning off algae or if the tissue is dying he might be eating the dead tissue. I have had some in the past that went after some sps, i think due to the fact that at that time the tank wasn't fed much at all as there were no fish in it, but i haven't seen them go after any of my lps.

In my limited experience the emerald crab can and will destroy your coral. They are great algae cleaners but for me it was a trade off. I got rid of mine.

Yea I'd sump the emerald crab if you can...I have one in my 10 gallon but I keep him fed so he doesn't bother anyone or anything in my tank. Never seen him go after anything.
