So I just spotted two tiny tiny starfish... Anyone guess what I've got and how safe they are?

Asterina starfish. I have not had any issues with them in my tank though some claim they eat coral. Only thing I have ever seen them eat in my tank is coralline algae.

Free clean up crew! They will reproduce...and typically are not symetrical. Id leave them! You may end up with 15 or 20 or so. Will cover a lot of ground quickly.

I saw one on a zoanthid polyp once, but it was already in bad shape. To me their like maggots, they eat dead or dying tissue and leave most living tissue alone. I keep them

Its a hit or miss.. these are asterina stars, while most are reef safe and harmless as said, some are not reef safe, and 1 can turn into thousands in short time... they are consitured a bad hitchhiker because they can reproduce rapidly like rabbits and in rare cases whipe out corals... Harlequin shrimp are the best solution to rid them but its a matter of whether you want the stars or not... they are super tiny and it will be hard to tell if they are the ones causing damage.

If I follow the black mouth white mouth thing these are good guys... If it gets to he a problem I will order a couple shrimp to get rid of them but right now they are helping to clean my hair algae issue so they can stay :)
