I got this over the weekend and have gotten a couple different opinions in the lps forum. Can anyone give me a positive id on this guy?

????? got me?????

I've gotten trachyphyllia and scolymia as answers in the LPS forum but it almost seems like a cynaria to me??? I dont have much experience with these so i'm not sure which it is:confused:

Trachyphyllia geoffroyi would be my guess? must definatly not Scolymia vitiensis but maybe Cynarina deshayesiana not Cynarina lacrymalis...

Trachyphyllia geoffroyi for sure. Just a very round, healthy looking one. There's only one way to find out, and that's the bad way, by identifying by skeleton. Don't want that happening.

Thanks guys!

There seems to be some variances in their lighting and flows needs in the threads on here and other sites.

should it be in high, medium or low flow?

I have one...it has a red outer lip, and a green center.
I have mine at the bottom of the tank on the sand. I got it from an LFS in a trade. Since it's been in my tank (2 months) it has developed deeper colors. It gets little flow, but lots of light!

It is a Trachyphyllia Geoffroyi....that's my story & I'm sticking to it!

Sufunk, A few questions, is the shell underneath conical shape or flat? if flat, can you touch the hard part or is it cover with flesh?

The shell is definitely conical shape Rogger. Very small skeleton underneath that cones down to a small point.

Guess i gotta move it. I have it in a pretty high flow area right now.

The bottom is shaped like a tornado....except you make the top wider and the tail that hangs down shorter.

Oh better yet, like an unside down herseys kiss....
