I was out with my flashlight today checking out my mysis shrimp and pods in my tank, rather proud of my in tank refugium, and I noticed a small, maybe a 1/4 inch, white crab. I haven't kept in crabs, other than hermits, in this tank so its unlikely that its a baby emerald or something of that sort, although it does have that sort of a body shape. It pretty much kept itself tucked in a whole and I never got to see the whole body, I do have a handful of acros and montiporas, not sure if thats helpful as I thought that coral crab guys had pink legs.

There is a white acro crab affectionately called a 'Bandit'...they have a little black 'mask' across the eyes. Keep an eye on where he stays to be sure it is an acro crab. If it is in the rockwork, most likely not an acro crab. Crabs are opportunistic, and MOST hitchiking crabs can be troublesome.

Might be a xanthid crab. Did it have black claws? If so, remove to a refugium or sump. I had one in my ten gallon for years. Got really big but never hurt anything. Most will do some damage though as they are very "oppotunistic." GL, Marcye

removing him would be extremely difficult, he is inside a hole on the 1 rock that has large enough holes to stick those damn corkscrews for the frag pieces, and it has a lot of them, relocation of all the corals it holds it would be damn near impossible, is this white acro crab bad? Anything else I should be looking for besides black claws and a mask, if I'm not mistaken he had white claws I will check again tonight, he doesn't seem particularly keen on daylight.
