Unless there is an Indo-Pacific species I am unfamiliar with that looks almost the same, this one looks like Pagurus longicarpus (common on the east coast of North America). Another possibility is Pagurus bernhardus (European), for which I am less familiar with the range in color variation, but it appears to me to be a better match for P. longicarpus.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply.
But i don´t think, that is a Pagurus longicarpus.
He looks like them, but he ist not identi.
P. bernhardus lives here on the coast of Ostfriesland/Germany. I know this hermits.

Well...I just took one of the P. longicarpus from my tanks to the computer to compare markings and proportions, and it truely looks the same to me down to each detail I can see.

I saw you are e-mailing in another thread to get IDs - if you get a correct ID on this one, please do post back what the final result is! I am curious to know what distinguishing feature(s) I have overlooked, or if it is just a matter of range.

Hi Donya!
I think now, that you've got right. I get irritated me because the Indo-Pacific and the coloring of my hermit. Sorry :love1:
Could you post here a pic of your hermit, or me e-mailed?

Unfortunately I don't have any clear photos on hand, but I will try to get better pictures of my P. longicarpus hermits this week. When I am able to get a photo that shows the species' features well, I will definitely post it here! :)
