I just noticed these critters today in my 90 that I'm about to restart which is currently holding a hippo and a green wrasse.
There are dozens and some are clinging on the glass and others are pulsing around like moon jellies. They look cool but are they parasites?? The tank is mostly barren stripped of all live rocks but still is hooked up to the sump.
The wrasse which eat most everything ignores these jellies. They're less than 1/4".

Cloak, you made me work for the answer....but after reading through the link, I found out they're feather dusters in their medusa stage. Pretty little critters.

Good to know and makes sense as the sump is littered with them. Thanks for the quick reply...now time to drain the tank and start fresh.

Feather dusters go through a medusa stage? I was thinking that was a coral/anemone/jelly thing, not a worms stage.

Learn something new every day!

I think what rickcasa means to say is that they are hydrozoans in their medusa stage. In the link he read their adult stage is referred to as "feather duster," but this is only because they "sort of" resemble the feather duster worms we are used to. Feather duster worms do not have a medusa stage. Hydrozoans do not have tubes that they draw back into when threatened.

Captured some. Going to grow them out. They are cool looking. Want to see what happens. When not disturbed they settle on the bottom like upside down jelly fish. Will be cool to each them grow/ morph.

Update! Captured three and put in 10 gallon pod grow out tank. Haven't seen them till the other day. One has settled on the side of the glass. He is the size of a dime and looks like a Cassiopeia jelly! No way, right? If any one cares, I'll post a pix. Meantime will continue to try to grow it out.

Anyone have experience keeping them? The more I research, the more nervous. Become over keeping it alive. I'm feeding Reef Roids and Reef Bugs mainly. Any other suggestions?!
