Where did the live rock come from?
I have a mixture of rock. Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Marshall Island, and Jakarta. I was watching him for a while before i pulled him out. He seemed to be eating stuff off the rock he was in. ?
His legs are a lighter color than the rest of his body, kind of tan and furry. His body is almost black, or a very very dark brown. His pinchers are about the same size on each arm, sort of long and narrow, and whiteish on the very tips. His pincher arms are much longer than the rest of his legs.

Shape of the body is wrong for Mithrax. The overall appearance is pretty common among crabs and it could be a number of different species. The spotted legs help camoflague the crab. Whether he's truly harmless or a predator can only be found out by keeping & watching him carefully. I find crabs to be much more amusing to watch than corals but not everyone feels the same.
