Anyone know if this zoanthid has a name? My local shop has it for sale as "ultra red zoanthids" but I think they look better then that name says. I know names mean nothing but they are kinda fun. :spin3:

First- they are quite beautiful and congrats those would make a great addition to any reef. Second- what is in a name? Maybe I'm just missing the boat here but I think you could pull any exotic sounding name from thin air and nobody would be the wiser. In fact, come up with a name that really sings like perhaps- "Flaming Vampire Eyes" or "Spanish Blues" and sell frags for a fifty bucks an eye.
I know names mean nothing, its actually very funny to see all the super hero names that make their way into Zoanthids and Chalices. But i gotta tell you, you may not be into "naming" but you come up with great ones! "Flaming Vampire Eyes" is brilliant!
Thanks, I'm just goofing around- some of the names are a lot of fun. I am a product of way too many years of hard sciences in college for my own good and all too often lose sight that whether Latin or common it does not really matter.
