So the other night my daughter and I saw this little black thing slowly moving around it has a white spot on the back as well.

I'm sorry the pictures are too fuzzy. Describe it please. Does it have jointed legs? Is it soft or hard? How fast does it move?

hmm could be a keyhole limpet hard to tell by the picture though.

sorry about the pics it was the best i could do. it's not very fast it just slowly grazes on the rocks, it has almost snail like features, as far as if its hard or soft i haven't tried touching it.
i looked at the limpet pictures maybe it could be one of those.

Look up scutus, or elephant slug. I believe they are the same thing as the limpets, just by another name. If it looks like a snail without a shell, and sometimes may or may not have the white spot, that's probably what it is. You can't always see what white shell - sometimes the fleshy part covers it. Cool creatures - good for algae control.
