on juvenile specimens there is a usually a horizontal (side to side) black striping. Also, just for general Identification the mappa is usally a base black with gold markings (more puzzle-like than just spots) whereas the stellatus is usally a gold/yellow/orangeish base with black spotting.

this guy is blacked based with gold markings. Spots are not just round different shaps like a puszzle piece I will try to get a close up belly appeared black

Sounds like the mappa.... Possibly stellatus. Both get big as hell (2 feet plus, in case of the stellatus nearly 3 feet)

The stellatus pattern is more general, mappa has more geometic pattern that "fits" around the eye.

Care and feeding of both is similar. Both get massive (pond in your future) Very cool fish though. Have any more pics? Can you get in tighter/closer on the face and/or belly?

it looks like a baby stellatus, the mappa generally has a star type pattern surrounding the eye. good luck housing one when it is full grown, they DO get at least 3 feet.

not sure which they have, but vivid aquariums has one in their store in a 300 gallon display tub, it is about 2 feet long and awesome. right now its housed with a 12" clown trigger, and they love each other.

T-T-Trigger, is that pic photoshopped
my guess is highly doubtful, there have been records of arothron stellatus reaching 4 feet!

lol... no it is not shopped, but perspective does make it look bigger than it probably is.
