I ordered some stuff on ebay, and the seller accidentally put this in my package along with my other stuff:

anyone have a clue what it is? since i put it in my tank, all the nodes on it have sprouted those little 8 leafed polyps.

Its GSP (green star polyps)

Just in case you don't know....GSP grows like a weed ! Its really neat looking with polyps extended, but will totally cover your rock work if you aren't careful. Some people keep it on the sand to it doesn't spread too quickly. Another option I always liked is to place the rock its on up against the side glass of the tank and let it grow up the glass. It grows quickly and being on the glass, its really easy to frag and sell.

that sounds like a good idea... is it picky about light or flow?

They are not to picky. I have had them in PC's to halides and low to super high flow and they all do well.
