Here is a picture I have from a friend who wants to know what species this is. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance,

Can anyone else confirm Clathrata? I have gotten a few names thrown in but Bpynckel you seem to be the only one that thinks it is something definite without any doubts.

thanks,

Rick

Rick, i have a similarly sized frag in my tank. It looks that piece is a bit browned out, nothing to worry about probably high nutrient environment. When it colors back up it will be a vibrant yellow table with pink tips.. I see frags on Reefermadness of this species quite often, Nice find!

Thanks, I will let my friend know. He says that it is pink when you look at it in person, and reminded me that he is poor at taking pictures. He said he has no idea about the White thingy. LOL oh well. Thanks for the info.

not trying to be rude but its reall REALLY hard to put a positive id on a acro just from a pic let alone say it is a for sure id.look in the jen veron books at all the acropora species that have about 10 to 15 species that look just nearly exactly identical and then you will see that it could be a ton of other acros than the one you think it may be.good luck on your search no matter what it is its a good looking acropora sp. and thats a easy id!

If you can't say anything nice, stop posting! I wouldn't post bull**** posts on your threads so they are not welcome here Shawnts106.

Oddballs thanks for the heads up. I am trying to get some sort of an idea anyway. I will look into those books that you recommend.

thanks,

Rick
