hi just purchesed this large pice of what the lfs calls base rock and found this guy on there tank is still cycling so don't know if he will make it but lets hope

also if i need to do anything to help this guy let me know this is going to be a reef tank but have not done alot or reserch into corals yet thanks

Mushrooms are very difficult to ID beyond the genus level. Yours looks like your basic Discosoma 'shroom. They're very hardy, and might survive a tank cycle. They prefer not to be blasted with light...all mine thrive in the shady areas of my tank.

I was just moving rock around the other day and found two that look very similar to those but there are soooo many. As far as living through a cycle they will probably make it. Mine had to have come in with the rock and was cured intank when setup. The cycle was very bad with test kit readings off the chart and lasted for 2-3 weeks. as far as lighting goes they were in total darkness under the rock on a hole. i found that amazing since the rock hase been in that spot for a year.
