looks like P. ciliata. Excellent mantis. A spearer type, very active. I would give him a 15 gallon if you can, but a 10 is minimum. Give it a nice sized rock to dig under (they must have at least 3 inches of sand) or give it some PVC about 1.5x The diameter of the mantis. Should have 3" of sand at least, as they like to burrow. Feed it a live ghost shrimp, or they can even take crabs, or for the best show a fish such as a cromis. Will pretty much leave your cleanup crew alone.

Thanks Dan:) I have him in a 12 gallon acrylic tank right now. The sandbed is only 1 and a half inches but I buried a 5 inch piece of PVC with a curve on each end and he is in it right now......peeking out. Would silversides work for a food item? I know where I can get ghost shrimp and fiddler crabs too. He's really pretty ..........guess I should try to add more sand for him, huh? Wonder if he will keep his pretty green color since I have green chaeto and a green mussoid in the tank.......hope he does!

He might, he might not. They are always beauties regardless of the color IMO. So many interesting patterns and shades....

Silversides would be okay, but you want a good variety. Get ahold of at least 3 different frozens foods and rotate between them for best nutrition. Make sure they are salt water ghost shrimp, because fw ones are barely snack worthy and don't last long in salt. Maybe add a handful or so of sand a week.
