they told me he prefered a sand substrate

What did they tell you it was?

can anyone explain to me why hes moving. When I first bought him he stayed still for a day or so, the next evening he was gone (i assumed he moved around to the back of my live rock, the next morning when I woke up he had resurfaced on top of my galaxia, even as we speek his trunk is moving and he has not stayed still until I bought him.

They told you that this "coral" preferred a sand substrate? You don't mention if they told you what it was. Does it have a large area that is not covered in polyps?
It ***could*** be a sea pen. A sea pen would like a deep sand bed to sink its "foot" in. It is a filter feeder, but they aren't the easiest to keep alive (from what I have read.) You may want to do a search on sea pens, just in case.

thank you

thank you

for the reply it is in fact a sea pen (which is more concrete than someone saying its snails eggs) I took my pic to the lfs they id it as well. You say that its hard to keep alive, which I have read the same thing, but I have lost a galaxia, and plate coral and this guy is just floating all over the tank happy as can be. How do I keep him still or is this possible? Are they like anemones an wonder till they find a suitable place?
