Not sure if you can ID this without a pic but in back of my JBJ I found alot of what looks like a plant bulb it's white, maybe those pest snails? Not sure what they are any ideas?
If they are stationary (stuck on something and do not move)sounds like they might be sponges. Is there a small hole (almost like you could look into them ?) , If so then yes sponges and harmless.
