I am not sure as to what this is, or where it came from. It only grows in my aquafuge. It adhears to the sides of the fuge and some is growing into my chaeto also it grows in dome shaped clumps. It is slimy and each little branch is somewhat plump but thin. i cannot get any good pics of it in my fuge so i pulled some out.

this is one of the small clumps, i scraped it right off the side, in the fuge this was spread out to about 3 inches across and 2 inches high and stuck off the side about an inch

and here are some of the individual little branches, it is hard to pull this stuff apart since it is slimy.

any ideas what it could be? and if it is bad, is there a way to get rid of it?

Hello,

I've got the same stuff in my tank which I'm trying to get rid of because its taking over my rock and corals.

Oceanus, why do you say don't worry about it? I've struggled with this stuff for 2 years now, and its driving me crazy and threatening my sps.

The original post was this algae in a fuge only. While any algae can become a problem, its my guess that in the fuge it is working as a good filter for the main.
Terrance, in your case I would definately worry about it. sorry about your situation. Is there a way you can slowly but surely take out rocks and pull the algae off and clean the area of attachment before putting them back in. Good luck

haha yeah mine stays in the fuge, but man it grows fast terrance, have you tried mexican turbos? i let one of mine in my fuge for a day and it was eating it. maybe you could luck out and find one that likes it as well :)
