I've been considering a SPS but I made a fatal mistake of impulsing one the other day. Can anyone identify the species so I can figure out how best to care for it?

Think it's safe to remount a different way? Seems a little silly to have it lying down.

Thanks!

Best I can do is Genus. It's some sort of Acropora. They can be really tough to accurately identify down to the species, especially from a picture. The care for most all of them is pretty much the same, though: a lot of light, stable water parameters, and a lot of non-linear water flow. As far as how it's mounted, it tends to look strange to us, because most people mount frags straight up and down, but think about how a piece of that acro would land on the substrate if it were broken off in the wild. . .probably not straight up and down. I've heard quite a few people claim that they get much better growth mounting their frags more horizontally than vertically. I've recently plaid around with suspending a couple Acro frags horizontally in my tank with fishing line. It's only been about a month, but it seems like I'm getting pretty good growth. What I really should have done was frag the frag and mount one normally and have the other piece suspended. . .but now I'm just rattling. . .

Yea some type of acapora. They love light the more the better. I would mount vertical and if just bought leave main lights off atleast 24 hours. They require good lighting, phyto planket and proper calcuim levels .And if this a new tank like it says 1 month mb take back untill your tank is stable. Nice speciman though. GL :)
