Hello,

Can anyone please help me id this algae that has been taking over my tank? It's a bushy type algae that is all over my rocks, powerheads, and getting on the corals. I pull it off when I do my water changes (10% weekly) but it grows back after a few days. I checked my water params and all is good. Not sure if maybe my lighting is causing it? I switched to new bulbs in June (ati aquablue plus and ati 10K) I am running 4 t-5 bulbs on my 55 gallon. Lights are on 10:00 AM Blues, 11:00AM all 4, 6:30PM whites off, 7:30PM Blues off. Not sure if an urchine will eat this algae. Also getting a lot of air bubbles along my back glass and on the power heads. I am running a ehiem canister filter. Hope someone can help tank looks terrible now :(

Thanks
Mark

You need to check you phosphate levels. Do you have any fish? If so how much do you feed. What type of water do you use for your water changes Tap or filtered? Overfeeding can cause algae to grow as well as high Phosphates.

Phosphate are at .25 I have 4 fish a blue tang, 2 perc clowns, six line wrasse. I am using RO water from my own unit make 0 TDS. I am feeding every other day a pinch of flake food. I have had brown algae and green algae but I have never seen this type..it's bushy about 1/2"-1" off the rocks..
