Found this hitchhiker on one of my rocks and I am wondering if I need to be worried or pleased. I just put about 1/3 of my coral back in my tank and don't want to put any more in if I need to dig this guy out. he was about 3" long.

I'm not certain, but from the second pic I think it might actually be a cowry. It kinda looks like its shell is a bit exposed there. Gently touch it with something. Does the black all retract into a shell? If not, sea slug, if so, cowry.

it did not appear to have much of a skeleton or shell. The edges have some ruffles, which made me think of a nudibranch. I did not see any spots or stripes other than the white one in the middle that appears to be a slit.

It has a shell, you just can't see much of it. It's a Scutus, or Shield Limpet. They are generally harmless.

Cheers,

Don
