Ideas for changing sump refug on big system

Hey guys, Gals

I am thinking about a change to my sump and refug.
the sump is 150 gals and acts like settling chamber. The Refug is 50 gal of water in a 75 gal tank. do I really need them both is there a better suggestion for a setup you might have.

The Skimmer is now outside of the sump. Would I lose much by just using the 150gal tank with socks and put the refug in their also?
