Hi Everyone I am asking you for ideas of events to be added to the calendar,,,, This means besides the meetings! Some ideas have been thrown out already for: Tennessee Aquarium overnight trip

could be 4 tours or so.....

PS Iwill be looking for help with ant event we have so please PM me if ou are willing to help. THANKS Leah:dance::dance:

Just had an idea!

This unfortunately wouldn't include everyone, but there are a large number in the club.

We could do an MTRC dive day at Martha's Quarry in Lebanon. :)

I know of at least 6 divers in the club just off the top of my head... and I believe there to be more.

For those who haven't been diving in a while, I could also arrange for a refresher course with one of my dive professors at MTSU. She has done it for free in the past, but the people I go with and I usually get her a gift certificate to a dive shop or something.

Its at least a thought. :) And it could also be incentive for anyone who has thought about getting certified to go ahead and do it *cough*Joy*cough*. Its good stuff!

I have never been diving before but this sounds like fun and something I would be willing to do..

For those of you who have any questions, feel free to ask! :)

My ultimate goal is to take a trip to the Keys and (legally!) grab some critters for my tank! Maybe even a ricordea or two. :)

Brandon

Said like a true DIY'er. If I didn't know better, I might even say you took up diving to one day stock your aquarium.

 I will take that as a compliment for now, Chuck. ;)

And to be honest, it was an influence on my decision to dive! :D

Brandon

Haha! Yep! Along with grabbing zebra muscles off of the bottom and feeding the horde of bluegill that follow you around. :)

Looks like there are even more divers than I thought! :)

Brandon

oh ya one time my dive buddy stuck a slim jim in the back of my bc and I was being attacked by killer bluegill

and thats really why I got into reef tanks when I did, once you go diving someplace like cozumel, or beleize like I did you wish you could take the reef home with you.

I took the course and aced it, but I am lacking my open water dives. I have been thinking about getting those done, but can't ever find the motivation.

I'm in for this this summer :D

Seriously though. I drove down to the keys last year. It wasn't too bad.

Haha! That's awesome, tkimmons85. We stuffed a buddy of mine's weight belt at Vortex about 2 years ago. He couldn't figure out why the bluegill were following him. :D

Anthony, you could possibly do your check out dives with MTSU if you wanted to. Its coming up very quickly in May, though. How long ago did you do the course? And where?

Donny and Chris, it would be great to have you guys out, too. :)

There are even more than I thought! :D

Brandon,

Sounds like you may be on to something here. How about you head this one up since you know really waht needs to happen? Great club activity for those interested!!

I don't mind at all, Andy. :) I've actually already PM'd Leah about that. I will probably start up a new thread.

Thanks,

Brandon

Freaking Florida divers... :D :p

Who said we were going next week? I don't like 60 degrees on the surface, either. :p

I'm thinking mid-June or so... should be REALLY nice around then. There is very little algae (the water is crystal clear) and surface temps are in the 80s... its the perfect time to go to Martha's!

Brandon

Oh, and another suggestion I have that doesn't require a certification is a shooting day. :)

I know our club president is an avid gun enthusiast along with several others in the club (myself included).

I've brought both of these up before, but they never really took off. Maybe we can get these to actually go through this time. :)
