Ideas needed for a stand

Hi guys.
I just recently acquired a 90 gallon rr tank (48x18x24).
I would like to build a stand for this tank, but there is one problem that I need some help with.
I have a 55 gallon sump/fuge (48x13x20) for my existing tank. I would like to incorporate this tank into the new 90 gallon to fit under the stand for it. The problem is that both tanks are the same length.
Would I be further ahead making the stand a little longer than 48 inches and building a frame to go around the bottom of the 90 or would I be further ahead to make the stand the normal length and then cutting notches in the wood so the 55 can still sit under the 90?
I'm having a brain poop right now and thought i'd ask you guys to see what people recommend. Also, should i use 4x4's or 2x4's?
I dont have a problem with building the tank once I get the ideas, but the ideas aren't coming to me right now.

Check how i did mine, I don't know the exact inside dimensions but I know I made my new stand and it had more room inside then the AGA pine stand I had.

Thanks for the link. Do you think with the stand that you built that you could fit a tank that is 4 feet long (same length as your 75) inside your stand? Thats what i'm shooting for. To be able to put a 90 gallon on a stand and fit a 55 sump/fuge inside the stand. LMK

Just make the stand bigger, I think it looks better anyway.
Remember, if you put a center brace in the stand you have a 4' sump to put in there. Either make the top frame out of something like 2x6's or 2x8's to avoid the center brace, or make the center support removable.

I agree make the stand bigger. The 1" ledge around my tank really comes in handy when I am working on the tank....which seems to be almost every night. : )

the inside dimentions of the stand are 49x32 That give the room I need to have my 55 in the stand with 1/2 inch on each end. it also gives me front to back space for my 15 gallon cube to be displaied infront of the 55 sump.

I am a few weeks of brining the stand into the house and setting it up. It should be interesting to see it all set up. I built mine with 2x4's
