Just picked up this wrasse recently and it was listed as a "Venusta Coris Wrasse" but I have not found much at all on them. Can anyone identify it? I'd like to know more about it. Sorry about the crappy pics but the phone camera blows
It is in fact a Coris venusta; yours is a female. Gets to 7-8" I believe. Sleeps in the sand. Will likely eat most of your CUC, including snails, shrimp, etc.
Hmm... I see conflicting info on whether they are reef safe or not. I do want to keep it so I think I'll keep close watch on everyone else in the tank. If it gets out of hand, I'll look to trade/sell it. Thanks for the identification.
IME they will eventually go after CUC, and as they grew older the 2 I kept didnt tolerate other wrasses. They also had an annoying habit of flipping small rocks and unattached coral.
