Hi guys. Got a turbo snail and noticed this hitch-hiker. Any ideas?

Also, I've had this macro growing for a couple of months now and am looking for an offhand ID. I suppose I could research it but wanted to see if anyone could name it as common.

Thanks for any info!

The little tiny guy is a chiton?(sp.?) should read a little about them. Very interesting animals. I hope you already found thought on melevs site though.

great. thanks for the help on those. I read that chitons have VERY raspy tongues and can even gouge acrylic, given enough time. Is this likely to happen to a snail? I can't imagine it could but........Also, is that caulerpa going to go sexual on me? Do I need to worry about that?

Do you need to worry about it would be something they may debate on here. I would say don't let it get over grown and go all over the place. If you have a massive amount of it and it goes sexual you could have a massive problem. Some people will say that caulerpa is bad, some will say it's good. I would say don't worry about it just don't let it get over grown or shade out anything that needs light or flow.

I wouldn't worry about the chitons. None of the experts seem to ever be alarmed by them and I have never heard of anyone listing them as a pest. I think it's pretty rare that you will have one that actually can do some damage and if they did you might be able to see a tiny trail in the acrylic. They aren't going to decide to bite the acrylic out of no where and put a hole straight through it.
