If you had a million dollars... $5000

I'm considering writing a $5000 grant application to expand on my marine science education program for next year. If you have a few minutes I would love for some budgets of how you would spend this money. The setup would be in a middle school so keep that in mind.

It should include:

A large display tank 120g+ (acrylic/glass?)
Sump (Filtration, Skimming, Media Reactor, Return Pump)
Refugium (possibly in sump, possibly a display fuge)
Pumps/powerheads
Lights (consider green school movement/energy savings)
Controller (Probes, extensions, etc)
Livestock to get started after cycle (Reef tank)

Frag tank with necessary equipment/accessories
Coral Frags

Any and all other recommendations.
Thanks all!
Jonathan

That's very generous of you reef, I have posted about my classroom tanks before but we weren't prepared for a large project yet. I don't think we would have had the money to make 300 gallons of saltwater let alone any other costs :) Hopefully next year we will have the grant to support expanding our project!

If it's not an in-wall setup, I would definitely spend some of that for locks on the stand and canopy to keep things from getting thrown in or messed with.

Haha yeah that is probably a good idea. It would most likely be in the library where it would be supervised at all times when kids are on campus. Still, a good idea to keep it locked down!

That's not a bad idea except it looks like the 100+ gallon ones would almost max out our budget without any livestock or a frag setup. Do prices vary depending on where you get them?

Well first I have to write for the grant, get it approved and funded. Won't be until next year. Hopefully you have a sale by then!
