Only been growing coral for about a year now and have had my share of ups and downs like many others. Just wanted to check on one thing though....
Yesterday I brought home my first P. Damicornis thinking "surely it will do just fine since its supposedly easy to grow and reported to be invasive." Nope, I glued it down just before lights out and by morning it was completely bleach white from top to bottom. Absolutely zero color or polyps.
I also brought home 3 other SPS corals this week and none of them suffered ill effects. In fact, the only one not showing full polyp extension yet is the mystic sunset monti, and it's slowly coming around. My new monti setosa is awesome, what a stunning coral.
Anyone else had this experience? Is it just luck of the draw sometimes with SPS? I don't understand how I can have a tank full of coral and have one just die like that so quickly.
Thing is, my tank has recently turned a corner it seems and I'm starting to see growth and coloration that I haven't seen before. To have a coral die like that is just confusing. Thoughts?
